Sea-Kissed Myrrh

An alchemically transformed version of Commiphora confusa using the classical elements as catalysts. Created at The Island Octopus Incensarium.

You will receive approximately 15 grams (0.52 ounces) of all natural resin incense housed in a plastic bag including an illustrated label. The Island Octopus' "Neptunian Frankincense" line is designed for an enhanced experience while using charcoal censers. It is also recommended for using in the creation of homemade incense mixtures.

*** Production description ***

Sea-Kissed Myrrh was created at The Island Octopus Incensarium. Pure Myrrh gum-resin from Kenya is transformed using fresh sea water from the Gulf of Mexico, the Southwestern Florida sunlight, and coastal breezes. No additional ingredients, artificial dyes, or fragrances were used in the creation of this incense!

Our method for transforming the raw product into Sea-Kissed Myrrh brings out the best qualities of the incense. This form of Myrrh has a higher resin content, which allows for its therapeutic qualities to be released more readily when smoldered on charcoal along with less of a charred smell. By using the coastal elements to transform the raw gum-resin, a unique incense experience is created.

Commiphora confusa info specifics: This resin is often confused with Frankincense, specifically the black form of Boswellia neglecta. While there are some similarities between the two, it seems that the transformation process has brought out more of the Myrrh side of this resin. It is sharing some of the characteristics found in C. tenuipetiolata and C. ornifolia. Overall the aroma is warm, very earthy and somewhat spicy. Please note that the raw resin contained a whole lot of small non-resin particles, mostly small bits of wood. While I have attempted to remove as much of this as possible, you can still expect to see some small wooden pieces imbedded within the resin.

All illustrations and recipes are original creations by Matthew Gindling exclusively for The Island Octopus!

NOTE: This incense blend is intended to be used as an aromatic incense only! We create incense as a form of functional and interactive art, and make no guarantees or claims to any desired effects, whether they be expressed or inferred.
