Yuletide Traditions 2023 Incense Blends
Hand-rolled, resin-based "incense pearls" re-envisioned from Matt's original holiday-themed blends created under Ethereal Aromas Incense Company. These blends were specifically created to provide the optimal aromatic experience using electric incense warmers and to function as an excellent smudging and altar-style incense when used with charcoal.
You will receive approximately 15 grams (0.52 ounces) of resin-based incense housed in an aluminum tins with an illustrated labels. This listing is for a set of all 5 incense blends contained in 5 separate tins.
*** Blend descriptions ***
Hildegard's Christas Cookies Incense (*contain butter CO2) originally appeared in various editions between 2010 and 2014 released as part of the "Yuletide Traditions" line from Ethereal Aromas Incense Company. This blend was originally inspired by the historical "Cookies for Preventing Sadness" from Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179). This new incarnation incorporates a more rounded out mix of resins and further additions to help bring out that cookie feel.
The recipe is primarily based in Omani Hojary frankincense with a couple other Boswellias added to the mix. The resin base is grounded with Sea-Kissed "sweet myrrh" Erythraea and bit of true Yemeni Commiphora myrrha, sweetened with a touch of Sumatran benzoin. A delectable blend of spice oils of cinnamon bark, nutmeg, ginger, clove, West Indian bay, star anise and orange have been infused into the resin mixture. Richened with butter CO2 and sugared with balsam and almond. Blended with fine white birch, cassia, and Aetoxylon "crocodile wood". Hand rolled in the original "Christmas cinnamon" Cinnamomum verum from Sri Lanka.
Angelsmoke Incense (100% vegan) first appeared unofficially in 2013 as part of the "Yuletide Traditions" line from Ethereal Aromas Incense Company. The initial blend was a personal experiment, with only a few jars sold to customers. This blend was originally inspired by a recipe originally published by the late German anthropologist Christian Rätsch. I have used this in private for years, and have finally created my own unique take on this enchanting blend.
The recipe is primarily based in my Hojary grade Neptunian Frankincense (Boswellia sacra). Sumatran benzoin, Turkish storax, Royal Green Hojary and Spanish labdanum round out the resin base. Mixed with a richly delicious rose by-absolute. The oils of rose, orris, sandalwood, lemon, nutmeg and close were infused into the resin base. Blended with antique Mysore sandalwood, Hawaiian sandalwood and Bulgarian rose petals. Hand rolled in fine white birch bark powder.
Holy Lemoncense Incense (100% vegan) was first introduced in 2012 and was one of the first incense blends created under the "Yuletide Traditions" line from Ethereal Aromas Incense Company. This blend originated from my experiments with elevating the lemonene content of frankincense to a higher levels. Admittedly, my attraction to this combination was due to my love of lemon candy and the amazing anti-depressant qualities of resins from the Boswellia genus. Even though this new edition is quite frankincense heavy, it is yet another step on my quest to achieve the ultimate lemon/frankincense hybrid aroma.
The recipe is primarily based in my Neptunian Frankincense derived from Boswellia dalziellii, with the addition of the Socotran species Boswellia ameero and the "honey" Hojary of Oman. American styrax and benzoin from Thailand were added to brighten the base mixture, further infused with a touch of authentic rectified Baltic succinite. A sweet medley of oils consisting of lemon, litsea, sandalwood, amyris, ylang ylang, vanilla and others was infused into the resin base. Blended with "lemon" sandalwood from the island of Timor and antique agarwood from the Nation of Brunei. Hand rolled in fine white birch bark powder.
Classic Candy Cane Incense (100% vegan) was first introduced in 2013 with an additional edition in 2014, both released as part of the "Yuletide Traditions" line from Ethereal Aromas Incense Company. This blend was originally inspired by the semi-historical mythos surrounding the origins of the candy cane in the Cathedral of Cologne. This new incarnation incorporates more diverse elements that the original rendition, featuring a more herbal and balsamic elements.
The recipe is primarily based in Omani Hojary frankincense. A simple addition of mastic from Chios rounds out the base, with the sweet notes being provided by vanilla CO2 infused benzoin from Sumatra. Peppermint takes the center stage as the minty element, with a touch of spearmint for depth and a bit of menthol crystal for an added kick. Blended with fine white birch bark powder to help bind the blend together. Hand rolled in blended peppermint leaf .Rhododendron and others.
Caribbean Harvest Incense (100% vegan) was first introduced last year (2022) as an experimental blend created in a live setting at the Daas Co-Op Art Gallery. This new edition uses the original base blend, while incorporating more earthy and musky elements. The intent was to keep a culinary element, but play more heavily with wilderness, "manly" and oceanic notes.
The recipe is primarily based in protium from Guatemala blended with a variety of copal (Bursera and Protium spp.) and Sea-Kissed Myrrhs. The additions of the resins of tolu balsam, lignum vitae, dragon's blood and shaved tonka beans bring their deep and mysterious sweet appeal. The resins have been infused with an excessive mix of sweet spices, citrus, culinary herbs, and floral oils. The darker musky and leathery depths of the aromatic spectrum emerge with a touch of oakmoss, nagarmotha, West Indian bay, seaweed, amyris and others. Blended with excellent palo santo and Hawaiian sandalwood powder to help bind the blend together. Hand rolled in powdered allspice and birch.
